Apple’s ready to inject a little color into everyone’s life — or, at least, that’s the speculation. The company has invited press to a media event on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Apple headquarters, and it’s widely believed that Apple will reveal big changes to the next generation of iPhones.
While the gathering isn’t being marketed specifically as an iPhone event, news and rumors leading up to this announcement have all discussed alleged changes that have been in the works for the iPhone. The colorful pattern on the media invitation may be an homage to Apple’s reported plans to start selling iPhones in at least one new color, and possibly more.
Other big changes may also be announced. Given Android’s success selling lower-priced phones on the global market, Apple is expected to follow suit with its own lower-cost line of phones. On the tech side, upgraded features may include a fingerprint scanner integrated into the device, although nothing is set in stone until the company makes its big reveal.
Updating the Tech Side
If industry observers have it right, the most significant changes to be announced will be in terms of device cosmetics. But the iPhone event may also introduce some changes to the software itself. Some experts believe Apple will announce a final release date for the iOS 7 update.
Similar upgrades to other devices may also be unveiled, although changes or upgrades to the iPad aren’t expected to be announced at this time. Similarly, the new OS X Mavericks — which has yet to receive a final shipping date — is not expected to be addressed at the event.
