New Boundary Technologies, a software and service solution provider, recently announced “Prism Mobile,” a companion IT app to their Prism Suite line which allows IT professionals to manage networks and PCs remotely. Although remote desktop apps exist, Prism Mobile promises to be the go-to app for remote IT administration.
Remote desktop apps for consumers are readily available — Splashtop, LogMeIn Ignition and Pocket Cloud are popular choices — but IT software which allows administrators full access to their databases and networks from anywhere in the world falls short, and that’s the void Prism Mobile plans to fill. According to PRWeb, Prism Mobile lets IT administrators take action quickly and troubleshoot directly from their iOS device.
President of New Boundary Technologies, Tom Diamond, acknowledged that IT administrators don’t spend all their time at their desks and that managing networks often needs to be done on the go. With “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) taking prominence among IT professionals, a smartphone application that can freely manage a network is the obvious next step. Troubleshooting networks while on vacation or away from the office could lead to data leakage or security breaches, so the ability to monitor software deployments and other configuration changes directly from an IT app becomes critical to business security.
“As we talk to our customers, we hear over and over that they are still stretched for time,” says Diamond. “Being on the go can’t mean they’re out of touch with critical IT activities.”
The app can be downloaded via iPhone’s App Store. An Android release is planned in the future.
